I read an article today that calls into question a lot of things in James Frey's book, A Million Little Pieces. At The Smoking Gun, there is an article called A Million Little Lies: Exposing James Frey's Fictional Addiction. I won't get into it all here, except to say that they call Frey a fraud. After a search in North Carolina, Michigan and Ohio for criminal records, they found little if anything to back up the stories in the book. The picture above is the mug shot taken after Frey's encounter with police where he was allegedly beat with billyclubs.
Read it, take it for what it's worth. Sure, I have a problem with him running around claiming everything in the book is true, if it's not. However, I still think it's a great book. I think he's got a great voice. And a lot of the words and emotions ring true. That, for me, is undeniable.
